CoaguChek® XS Plus
Description
This instrument is designed with full traceability at use in mind : touchscreen, rechargeable battery, identification of the user, identification of the patient, automatic identification of the batch of teststrips using the barcode, avanced qualitycheck, extensiv datamanagement and a flexible connectivity totransmit the data to a central management system for decentralised biological instruments. After the identification of the user and the patient you can painlessly take blood from the top of the finger with this device, using the Softclix® Pro with a needle for single use. Using this method, you obtain a drop of blood(10 µl) which is sufficient enough to apply to the top or the side of the teststrip.
The CoaguChek XS® Plus executes the necessary check-ups of all internal systemfunctions and of each teststrip before the result is shown. The system guarantees in this way a total protection against defects, because the device and the teststrips are checked continiously. At roomtemperature, the teststrips keep their stability for a period of 18 months. It takes only a minute for the device to analyse the INR-value based on the patient data. This value will be automaticly be saved into the memory of the device where it will be always available.
As soon as the CoaguChek XS Plus is connected to the central system, the value is transmitted to the database. The CoaguChek XS Plus is an essential part of our "Near Patient Testing"-range of products. It can be connected to our software for decentralised management, "cobas IT 1000". With this system, it is possible to do the technical inspection, the programmation, the quality check of all devices in the different departments and the tracking of all users in a blink of an eye. This software takes care of the necessary tracebility that is absolutely essential to the correct operation of a decentralised lab.
The CoaguChek® XS Plus is a measurementsystem for INR-values that permits to treat patients with oral anti-coagulants in all safety without having to take arterial blood. The device was especially designed to meet the highest qualitystandards, for use in hospitals as well as doctor`s practices and with housecalls. The CoaguChek® XS Plus is the result of a number of recent technological developments and guarantees optimal safety and reliability.
The CoaguChek® XS Plus uses new technology for the determination of INR- values (or the level of protrombine) based on the elektrochemical detection of the coagulationtime of the patients blood.

-for each value ,information about the identification of user and patient, the date and the time of the INR-measurement and the batchnumber of the teststrips and the controlsolution is stored .
-The CoaguChek® XS Plus system contains a number of verification functions: verification of the components and electronic functions, verification of the temperature of the teststrip during the measurement, verification of the expirationdate and of the information about the batch of the teststrips. Test teststrip
- for these teststrips, a small sample of capillary blood (10µl) will be sufficient.
- To avoid contamination, the bloodsample will be applied outside the reader. The bloodsample can be applied on top or on the edge of the strip, which increases usability a lot.
- The teststrips can be preserved at room temperature. They keep their stability for 18 months.
- The unique technology permits to detect the activity of the thrombin electrochemical by using amperometry. the signal is proportional with thecoalescense time. The CoaguChek XS PT teststrip contains reagents in dry form, the recombinant tissuefactor (tromboplastine ISI~ 1) and a peptidesubstrate (electrocyme TH) that can be used to determine serine proteases like trombine. When the bloodsample is applied, the tromboplastine activates the coagulation, which forms the trombine. The trombine segregates the electrocyme TH and generates an electrical signal that is proportional with the coalescense time.
- thanks to the specific form of the teststrip, a drop of blood is induced to the strip; patients will not have any nuisance of the withdrawel of blood or the aplication of the blood sample.
- The CoaguChek® XS Plus PT Test teststrip guarantees total safety thanks to the built-in "on-board single channel strip control: OS2C" quality check. This "OS2C"-systeem tracks on a absolute safe way all teststrips that wer not contained in a proper way. besides the reagens for the determination of the coagulation factor, the teststrip contains also the a reagens that detects when a teststrip is not proper used and that is very sensitive to environmental factors like light, humidity and temperature. The measured effect is proportional to the damage of the teststrip.
- Each teststrip is checked in het measuerment channel during the complete measurement process. For instanstance the volume of the bloodsample is checked.
-Each container with teststrips is supplied with a chip containing all the data about the testmethod, batch number and expiration date. The chip is unique for a batch lot of teststrips. The base unit
When you place the CoaguChek® XS Plus back in the base unit, the battery will automatic be recharged and an electronic bidirectional transfer of data (results and adaptations) will take place. The recharchable battery
